Student Learning Center

The SLC’s mission is to “support a global community of learners as they navigate the cultural expectations and academic rigor of UC Berkeley.”

BISP students have sought tutoring, writing support, and more from the SLC to thrive in their courses.

Libraries

UC Berkeley's 32 constituent and affiliated libraries together make it the fourth largest university library by number of volumes in the United States.

The libraries together cover over 12 acres (49,000 m2) of land and compose one of the largest library complexes in the world.

Health Insurance

Health insurance is required for all students to study abroad at Berkeley, and most BISP students use the UC Berkeley Extension-provided plan. Accepted students will be automatically enrolled in this plan which is accepted at nearby clinics and hospitals. Those who opt out of this health insurance must show proof of alternative insurance.

Housing

BISP students find their own housing, usually in private homes and apartments in the vibrant and walkable neighborhoods surrounding campus. BISP students usually live with and among UC Berkeley students or local families. Once accepted to BISP, you receive advising and resources to facilitate your housing search.
